Let's save Christmas


I am writing to see if we can save "Christmas" after noticing recently that my local bank displayed two large posters celebrating two holidays. One poster read "Happy Eid" and the other read "Happy Diwali." Two holidays at the same time (as are Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa) and both mentioned separately. Seeing these poster certainly did not "offend" customers at the bank, including me, even though most of us were not celebrating those holidays, but the corporate world has decided that "Christmas" is offensive and must not be used.We all appreciate the diversity of our Canadian identity and the many cultures and religions the population of Canada represents. However, the use of "Christmas," which represents one of the most important Christian holidays, has lost its identity.
